Rabbi Gottlieb will be spending Shabbos at Shomrei Emunah where he will deliver the drasha at the 9:00 AM Minyan on the topic: Appreciating Shomrei & Anticipating Israel. Rabbi Gottlieb will also be delivering a Devar Torah at Shalosh Seudos on the topic: Life in Israel – The 7 Month View.

Rabbi Gottlieb has recently announced that he will be living in Israel permanently and will not be returning to Shomrei Emunah as the end of his sabbatical year in Israel. The sabbatical was scheduled to take place from June ‘09-June ‘10 at which time Rabbi Gottlieb was to return as the Rabbi of Shomrei Emunah.

Rabbi Binyamin Marwick was overwhelmingly chosen last summer as the interim Rabbi of Shomrei Emunah. Rabbi Marwick is currently the Co-Director along with his wife Dr. Miriam Marwick at the Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus at Johns Hopkins University.

Since Rabbi Gottliebs surprise announcement, Shomrei Emunah has announced that a search for a new Rabbi is under way and that some promising resumes have been reviewed. Shomrei Emunah is a Orthodox Synagogue in the Northwest corner of Baltimore city in the Cheswolde neighbrohood. Shomrei Emunah serves the Greenspring area and boasts more than 400 member families.
